Where to sell a Scalextric collection, Carrera, Fly Slot etc

Sorting through a large slot car collection can feel overwhelming—especially if you’ve amassed hundreds or even thousands of cars over the years. But with a little organisation and a clear plan, you can turn that collection into cash.

Step 1: Sort by Brand

Start by separating your cars by brand. The most common names include Scalextric, Carrera, FlySlot, PinkKar, Revell, SlotIt, Ninco, SCX, MRRC, ProSlot, AutoArt, and Avant Slot, though there are many others. Sorting by brand makes it easier to assess value and decide how to sell.

Step 2: Check Condition and Functionality

Next, check if the cars are complete and in working order. You can test them on a track or, for a quick check, touch a 9-volt battery to the braids. A complete, functional car typically fetches a higher price.

Step 3: Decide How to Sell—Individually or in Bundles

You have two main options:

Sell Individually: This approach can bring in the most money, especially if some cars are rare or highly sought after. However, it requires more effort, research, and frequent trips to the post office.

Sell in Bundles: Selling in bulk by brand or as a mixed lot is quicker and easier. While the overall price per car might be lower, it can be a good way to clear a large collection efficiently.

What to Expect for Prices

Unboxed Cars: Typically £5-7 each in bundles, with rare or desirable models fetching up to £10-15. Larger bundles usually mean a lower price per car.

Boxed Cars: Prices vary from £15 to £40, depending on the model’s rarity and demand.

Rare Models: When selling individually, research each model thoroughly—some can sell for hundreds of pounds.
